My 1'st Year College Journey (computer Science)
DAY 1 of the dream
(spoiler) not good day
when I entered college the first time I was thinking that my college would be different from other colleges, I thought people must be excited about the college and the department(COMPUTER SCIENCE) they got into but when I faced them things were different. most of the folks who got admission and my seniors to my branch were not excited about computer science then I was sure that this college won't be bringing anything to me in terms of knowledge and networking with them won't be a good decision of mine.
realization and a bad news combination
I knew college won't bring anything to me, I have to do something so that I can survive in this field then one day on youtube I found a guy name KUNAL KUSHWAHA, then went through a couple of these videos of his, got to know about OPEN SOURCE. watched some more videos on open source then I found a program called gsoc(google summer of Code). then I thought applying to this program would be beneficial for me to know about the computer science field, culture and how companies work. Time was around November when I got to know about this, and the application form would be out in mid-march. then when I went through the documentation of GSoC programmes there I found that the minimum age criteria to get into gsoc is 18 years old but I was 17 at that time. I was feeling very low but in another sense, it was also good as I was very new to the field and didn't know about computer science and gsoc. thereafter I started learning about the development thing, cloud thing etc.
choosing DevOps as a tech stack?
as Kunal Kushwaha said that "Explore every tech stack in cs to find your fitting tech stack ". I followed his instruction in this because at that time I was having very little knowledge about the field then as He said I learned about front-back end development, AI, ML, DevOps etc I thought that "I'm good at DevOps tools" until I learn about k8, terraform etc. I didn't buy any course related to DevOps(for a clear path and systematic path I suggest one should buy a course to learn like tech with Nana had made a pretty code course on DevOps ), AT first things were very difficult to find even though I had already watched a lot of videos of roadmaps but I was not sure where to start form. somehow I manage this condition and start learning tools.
making friends in college?
suggestion: yes, everyone should make contact with other people because without them it's going to be too hard for you to go through college life and enjoy your life as those people also teach you new things in life.
even though my college is not good enough but making some good friends in college wouldn't be a bad decision, I thought. and it will help me to enjoy my college life too. thereafter I met some good folks but non of them were not for me tbh then I found 2 guys standing and watching something on their phones, first thing pops up in my mind after seeing them, was to ignore them then I don't know what I was thinking that time but somehow I went to them to say hello and asked them what they are watching in their phone, first non of them replied but after a bit of silence then one of them replied me " we are watching standup, you wanna watch too?" even though standup they were watching, I have already watched at home but I said "okay bruh, why not" then after that, we together went to classes talked about a lot of things. As the days were passing both of them became a good friend of mine, and then we visited different places in Delhi together, in between this I forget to learn about DevOps tools and didn't do college study much.
the testing time
In both 1st and 2nd semesters, I didn't study much either college stuff or DevOps. I didn't get good marks in both semesters. TBH exams were pretty easy but I didn't study enough. that is why, I was unable to answer the question in the exam paper but somehow I passed both of the semesters with good cgpa()
starting the DevOps journey again
now after wasting around 1 year playing the game, and doing nonsense things, I came to realise that I have to start again!! feeling sad to say this but I have to admit that making friends is a good thing but in between don't forget your goal. now I have started learning devops tools till now docker is completed and I plan to clear gsoc on my first attempt...
story of mine continues...
